Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel – also known as the Mo-brothers – have already proven their talent for the gruesome with their works “Macabre” and “Killers” (/slash2014). Now they’ve joined forces with Iko Uwais, the probably best known contemporary martial arts master (“The Raid”, “The Raid 2”): Ishmael awakens in hospital, but has lost all memory of his former life, the cause of which may be a bullet stuck in his head, slowly and relentlessly killing him. But his past soon catches up with him. Ishmael used to be a contract killer for an underworld gang until he had had enough and killed their boss. The latter’s son seeks revenge and kidnaps Ishmael’s doctor who is also his beloved – indeed a brilliant start to a breathtaking and ultra violent whirlwind of a movie, in which the perfectly designed pictures of Iko Uwais‘ outstanding physicality get smashed and kicked to pieces. “Headshot” is a vengeance opera, a martial arts inferno of the extreme sort.
