RAIDERS!: THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE

In 1982 a group of eleven year olds from Mississippi set out to act out their favorite movie, scene by scene. But that turns out to be quite difficult, since Steven Spielberg’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was not only one of the most successful films of the eighties, but also one of the most expensive, and Eric (director), Chris (lead actor) and Jason (camera) have a lot of passion, but hardly any money. On the one hand “Raiders!” tells the story of how an idea, in the course of many summer holidays, turned into a movie which has a cult following today. On the other hand the documentary accompanies the creators while they’re trying to capture the exploding airplane scene, they couldn’t shoot back then, enabling us to watch how an innocent, in the classic sense “Spielberg-esque”, boy’s project turns into an unhealthy obsession of grown men who have simply overdone it, pulling their former fantasies right into the present.
